Established in 1878, Thomas Bell and Sons Ltd have been importing quality fertilisers for over fifty years, and were pioneers in the introduction of big bags.  Thomas Bell import and supply a large range of quality fertilisers into major ports throughout the UK.

Having built the business over many years, we are now are the largest privately owned independent importer of fertilisers in the UK.  Nationally, we supply fertiliser direct to farm, buying groups and merchants.

OUR HISTORY

1878 Local agricultural millers and grain merchants

1930 Diversified to general agricultural merchants

1950 Growth with further expansion into suppling feed, fertilisers and seed

1970 Started importing fertiliser with 70,000 sq ft of warehousing facilities and expansion in our transport network with a fleet of 10 artic lorries. At this time we were packaging 100,000 tonne of IBC bagged product.

1990 Expansion from local merchants to national suppliers of imported quality fertilisers.

2000 Growth continues in our product portfolio ensuring we deliver quality and cost effective alternatives to the agricultural trade.

2015 Introduced 12 lorries to our operations to increase the level of service we offer to our customers.

2017 Installation of blending operations within ABP Bulk Park Immingham.

2024 Expansion into the South West, with fertiliser storage and blending facilities at Newport, complimenting existing operations at Immingham, Grimsby and Sharpness.

Where we are today

We are the largest privately owned fertiliser importer offering a large range of high quality fertilisers. This is all backed up with state of the art blending plants, 150,000 sq ft of undercover storage and our own fleet of lorries.
